Disgusting Democrat Forces Taxpayers to Pick Up The Tab For $220k Lawsuit.
Democrat Representative, Alcee Hastings, of Florida, should have never been in public service. Back in 1998, Hastings was impeached by Congress for his roll in a bribery scandal. You would think that type of black mark on your record would be enough to deter voters. Pickings must be slim in Florida because here we are.
While the case against Hastings is nothing new the settlement is, and cost taxpayers a whopping $220k dollars. Hastings was accused of sexual harassment and assault a few years ago. The Representative reportedly groped a young staffer, as well as asked her what panties she was wearing. Per court documents, Hastings asked repeatedly to stay at the young woman’s apartment. When she refused his advances he threatened her and had her blackballed. The kicker is, Hastings has the nerve to pretend he had no idea the settlement paid out. The whole mess just gets crazier and more enraging from there.
As Reported on Roll Call:
The Treasury Department paid $220,000 in a previously undisclosed agreement to settle a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment that involved Florida Democrat Alcee L. Hastings, according to documents obtained by Roll Call.
Winsome Packer, a former staff member of a congressional commission that promotes international human rights, said in documents that the congressman touched her, made unwanted sexual advances, and threatened her job. At the time, Hastings was the chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, where Packer worked.

As Reported By Samual Chamberlain with Fox News.
The former Republican Hill staffer alleged that the harassment occurred while she worked for the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), also known as the Helsinki Commission. The commission, which helps shape U.S. policy in Europe, includes nine members of the House and nine members of the Senate. Hastings, 81, is one of the commission’s ranking members.
In a statement, Hastings said had not seen the settlement agreement between Packer and the CSCE until the Roll Call report came out.
“At no time was I consulted, nor did I know until after the fact that such a settlement was made,” Hastings said. “I am outraged that any taxpayer dollars were needlessly paid to Ms. Packer.”
Roll Call reported that Packer sued Hastings and the CSCE in 2011 under a federal statute…
