Schumer Threaten Trump Over Manafort-Cohen Verdicts
The verdicts for both Manafort and Cohen have come down and Liberals are eyeballing Trump. They are worried he is going to pardon them. But they are also secretly hoping he does so that they can come after him for abuse of power and attempt to impeach the president.
Schumer inferred as much his threat/warning.
“I understand the president is on his way to a rally. He better not talk about pardons for Michael Cohen or Paul Manafort. Tonight or anytime in the future.”
Trump did react to the Manafort-Cohen Verdicts while he was getting off Air Force One.
A reporter questioned.
“Mr. President any reaction to the news out of the Manafort trial? Or to Michael Cohen?”
“Paul Manafort is a good man who worked with Ronald Reagan. He was with a lot of different people over the years. I feel very sad about that. This doesn’t involve me but I still feel, its a very sad thing that happened, nothing to do with Russian Collusion. This started as Russian collusion and this had absolutely nothing to do with. It’s a witch hunt and it’s a disgrace.”
Trump has yet to address whether he would be thinking about pardoning them or not. But it is clear that the Democrats are ready to unleash Maxine Water and Al Green. But would it be an abuse of power if he was defending them from the Liberals and their Witch Hunt?
The Constitution gives presidents what appears to be an unlimited authority to grant pardons. He “shall have the power,” Article II says, “to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.”
“The president can pardon only for federal offenses, and defendants counting on a blanket pardon may find that it does not cover all potential prosecutions.”
But “Could Mr. Trump pardon associates (Like Cohen and Manafort) under investigation by Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel?
Yes, but some legal experts say that such pardons, coupled with other actions, could increase Mr. Trump’s risk of prosecution for obstruction of justice. Abuse of the pardon power could also be grounds for impeachment.”
