Students In Standoff With Faculty, Demand School Be Disarmed
Students Demand Campus Police Be Disarmed
College students are engaged in a sit-in at Howard University. They have made a list of demands that they feel must be met. Until then they will be living in the administration building.
The protest has been going on since the 29th of last month. The demands include concerns about student housing, tuition freeze, faculty salary transparency, community outreach, the resignation of the current president, disarming campus police, students involved in the decision making, more counselors, resources to fight rape culture, teachers more accountable for student complaints, and basically a college run by the students.
The students are definitely overreaching. The University administration has given into one demand, that being the housing situation, which was not properly planned out. So they gave students more time to put down a deposit for the following semester.
But aside from unreasonable want to have complete control of the school, they also want to disarm the very people that protect them.
“We demand the immediate disarming of campus police officers and the formation of a Police Oversight Committee controlled by students, faculty, staff, and off-campus community representatives,”
This is one of those demands that don’t make sense, like who does that benefit? Campuses are not the most secure places, anyone can walk into one. This is just another example of the misguided youth of our nation, falling for the Liberal anti-gun narrative.
Liberals may be the ones who guide these naive youths, but students will ultimately be the ones that pay the consequences for listening to the “trustworthy” mainstream media.

“The Board is currently in meetings daily with the students to discuss their concerns,” Howard spokeswoman Alonda Thomas told TheDCNF. “We can confirm that the housing deadline to submit a deposit for on-campus housing has been extended to May 1, 2018.”
As of Monday afternoon, approximately 75 students remained in the occupied administrative building, Thomas told TheDCNF.”
