They say that those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it. It seems like Liberals are aiming to help us forget our past. They are constantly trying to take down monuments and rewrite our history in the name of Political Correctness. Richmond, Virginia’s J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School is the latest casualty in their war against history.

J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School underwent a change as The Richmond School Board decided to change the name to Barack Obama Elementary. So they changed the name from a military Commander and hero in the Confederate Army to the Leftist Obama.

Public Schools Superintendent Jason Kamaras pledged that his job is to make sure students have a safe environment to learn.

“I see it as my job to start turning over all these rocks, and when I see snakes, I just got to step on them and take care of it for the kids and families of RPS. And I’m going to keep doing that,” Kamras said.”

It’s incredibly powerful that in the capital of the Confederacy, where we had a school named for an individual who fought to maintain slavery, that now we’re renaming that school after the first black president. A lot of our kids and our kids at J.E.B. Stuart see themselves in Barack Obama.”

Students, parents, staff, and community members all submitted ideas for the school’s new name.

About 95 percent of the school’s student body is African-American. Many of the new school name options represented influential African-American civil rights leaders including Barbara Johns, Oliver Hill, and Henry Marsh.

The top three finalist names on Monday night were Barack Obama, Northside, and Wishtree.”

The RPS administration estimated that it will cost $26,000 to rename the school.

The $26,000 cost involves the following: $2,500 for a wooden sign at the front of the school; $2,500 for a new marquee; $4,000 for a bronze plaque; $10,000 for the etched stone facade on the school; $2,000 for rubber mats; $2,000 for stationery, envelopes and business cards, plus $500 for other office supplies; $2,000 for T-shirts with the new name for students and staff; and $500 for a banner.”
