Did Chick-Fil-A Buckle To LGBTQ Pressure Abandoning Their Christian Supporters?
Chick-Fil-A has some great and even better service. They are known to cater to Christians and unlike your typical McDonalds or Burger King, it is not uncommon to see families that eat there, say grace before they eat. But it appears they are trying to be more inclusive as the LGBTQ has been bashing them for giving to Christian Charities. So now they have decided to stop donating: to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and The Salvation Army. Have they lost their backbone?
Mike Huckabee came out against the restaurant claiming they have betrayed their Christian supporters just to appeal to their haters.
“In Aug 2012, I coordinated a national @ChickfilA Appreciation Day after they were being bullied by militant hate groups. Millions showed up. Today, @ChickfilA betrayed loyal customers for $$. I regret believing they would stay true to convictions of founder Truett Cathey. Sad.”
“Huckabee wasn’t alone, though, as many expressed their disappointment and anger online, questioning if the company will stay true to the faith and family values.
Billy Hallowell, the author of “Pure Flix,” a Christian production company, said “the fact that the mainstream media has reduced the Salvation Army — one of the most important humanitarian groups around — to an ‘anti-LGBTQ organization,’ tells us everything we need to know about our current culture.”
He added that the decision was a bad one because it made no one happy.
“The most insane part of Chick-fil-A’s decision,” Hallowell said, “it does little to appease those who have long loathed the company. Meanwhile, it does everything to alienate those who have backed the company endlessly against attacks.”
A spokesperson for Chick-Fil-A made a statement about the move away from those charities.
“We made multi-year commitments to both organizations and we fulfilled those obligations in 2018,” a spokeswoman for Chick-fil-A told the Thomson Reuters Foundation, adding the company would focus its giving on “education, homelessness and hunger.”
So they are still planning to give money for education, homelessness, and to feed the hungry. It is unfortunate that Chick-Fil-A is moving away from the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as I am sure they need the money as well. But as long as they keep giving to the community, there is no real foul here. They are helping to feed the hungry, clothe the needy, and help to educate the public, what is more Christian than that?
