Buzzfeed Published Leaked Documents – Michael Cohen’s Shredder Pieced Together By FBI
The left media has made tons of speculations and read into every move Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, has made. They’ve recently reported that his interview with ABC news was a ‘coded’ message to the White House that he was about to flip.
Since the FBI announced that they were piecing together Cohen’s shredded documents, the media has expected a truckload of new information. Buzzfeed managed to get ahold of some of those documents and published them on their site. Just one issue, it doesn’t look like much of anything.
According to The Daily Wire, BuzzFeed opens by noting that when the pieced-together shredded documents were first announced by the Department of Justice, “critics, legal experts, and journalists feverishly speculated about what they might contain.” Most vocal among them was Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti, who predicted that the shredded documents could be a “huge problem” for Cohen and company.
But it turns out that the pieced-together documents are just a bunch of documents that prosecutors already had. Among them are handwritten notes about a taxi business, “rambling letters” that appear to be unconnected to the investigation, and insurance papers. Some are almost incomprehensible, one containing a “jumble of numbers, letters, and bar codes,” while another “appears to be part of an envelope.” The ones that do make some sense don’t appear to be game-changing.
As Reported On Buzzfeed:
The clearest page documents a payment that has already been reported: a $62,500 wire transfer from March into a First Republic Bank account controlled by Cohen. This would fit with a series of payments reportedly from the Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy. He reportedly paid Cohen to negotiate a nondisclosure agreement with a former Playboy model with whom Broidy was romantically involved. A federal law enforcement source told BuzzFeed News that prosecutors already possessed some of the records dealing with Cohen’s financial transactions.
Several shredded documents are pages from rambling letters that don’t seem to have a connection to the current investigations by the Office of Special Counsel and Southern District of New York. The writer, Karen Wickman, who claimed that she was harassed and blackmailed by President Donald Trump in the late 1980s, told BuzzFeed News that Cohen never responded to her letters. She has brought forward 42 “unmeritorious motions, pleadings, and other papers,” according to a legal filing last year.
So, based off of what these leaked documents, it doesn’t look like the FBI has much to go on, at least right now. It does, however, make you wonder how Buzzfeed keeps obtaining ‘leaked’ information- like the Russian Dossier documents.
