John Cleese is known for “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” and Fawlty Towers. He found himself criticized over his views of on how London has changed so much over the years.

The supposed controversial tweet:

“Some years ago I opined that London was not really an English city anymore. Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation. So there must be some truth in it…I note also that London was the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU.”

The Mayor of London spoke out again Cleese’s claim:

“These comments make John Cleese sound like he’s in character as Basil Fawlty. Londoners know that our diversity is our greatest strength. We are proudly the English capital, a European city and a global hub.”

Basil Fawlty is the main character of the 1970s British sitcom Fawlty Towers, played by John Cleese. The proprietor of the hotel Fawlty Towers, he is a cynical and snobbish misanthrope who is desperate to belong to a higher social class. His attempts to run the hotel often end in farce.”

Some critics gave him more grief because he is planning to move to the Carribean.

Tanja Bueltmann, a professor of history at Northumbria University and an EU citizens’ rights campaigner, said Cleese’s comments were designed to stir up emotions around the debate on Brexit, but argued that they pointed to a much larger issue of the way British people talked about immigration.

“I find it hypocritical that someone who is actually living abroad feels the need to make a point like this,” she said. “Why do some British people not see themselves as immigrants if they’ve moved elsewhere? We see cases of British people referring to themselves as expats, detaching themselves from the term immigrant.”

Cleese held strong and responded to the critics.

“I suspect I should apologize for my affection for the Englishness of my upbringing, but in some ways I found it calmer, more polite, more humorous, less tabloid, and less money-oriented than the one that is replacing it.”

I think it’s legitimate to prefer one culture to another For example, I prefer cultures that do not tolerate female genital mutilation. Will this will be considered racist by all those who hover, eagerly hoping that someone will offend them – on someone else’s behalf, naturally.”

It might interest those people who seem to think my remarks about London are racist as opposed to culturalist, to consider that what I like about spending time in Nevis. Nevis has excellent race relations, a very well educated population, no sign of political correctness…”

“…no sign of Rupert Murdoch, conscientious lawyers, a relaxed and humorous life style, a deep love of cricket, and a complete lack of knife crime And, of course, wonderful weather.”

And the icing on the cake is that Nevis is not the world centre for Russian dirty money laundering.”

Looks like he won this round. He is right London has a ridiculous amount of stabbings and their culture has changed quite a bit due to immigrants. He will be better off in the Carribean. The SJWs can’t afford to live there.
