McConnell Reminds America That The Dems Are Just Spinning Their Wheels
The Dems are aggressively going after Trump. They need to find something now that they have made the impeachment investigation official. If they don’t they are going to lose whatever shred of credibility they have left with their constituents. But despite the BS they are spewing about Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel wants to let everyone know just how big a waste of time this is.
“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on Tuesday that it is unlikely that President Trump would be convicted and removed from office is he were to face a Senate impeachment trial today.
McConnell appeared confident given the knowledge he has that if the Democrat-controlled House votes to impeach Trump, the president will not be found guilty in his trial before the Senate.
“I will say I’m pretty sure how it’s likely to end,” McConnell told reporters in Washington. “If it were today, I don’t think there’s any question it would not lead to a removal.”
It takes two-thirds of the Senate to convict a president and remove him from office. That means at least 20 Republicans would have to vote to convict Trump if he is impeached by the Democrat-controlled House.
“So the question is how long the Senate wants to take. How long do the presidential candidates want to be here on the floor of the Senate instead of Iowa and New Hampshire?” he said.
“It’s very difficult to ascertain how long this takes. I’d be surprised if it didn’t end the way the two previous ones did, with the president not being removed from office,” he added in an apparent reference to former Presidents Clinton and Nixon.”
The Dems and the MSM hate this fact. They wish the House had the power to override the Senate. This whole impeachment process seems like a huge waste of time.
