Twitter Now Enforcing Pakistani Laws Against Conservatives
Is this America? Political Commentator and blogger Michelle Malkin has found herself in an odd predicament when it comes to Twitter. Malkin received a notice claiming she had broken another country’s law and worse it is punishable by death.
Michelle Malkin lives here in America and she didn’t post anything obscene at least not bycour standards. Malkin posted pictures of Muhammed on Twitter.
After her posts, she received a message from Twitter legal telling her that she had broken Pakistan’s Blasphemy Laws which are punishable by prison or even death.
#SiliconValleySharia -ed. Here’s the notice Twitter’s legal dept sent me last week, warning me to get legal counsel because anti-blasphemy Muslim zealots complained that my Mohammed Cartoons tweet violates Pakistan’s laws.”
“The Pakistani blasphemy laws Twitter is warning about is punishable by life imprisonment or death:
Section 295B criminalizes “defiling the Holy Quran,” and carries a penalty of life imprisonment. 295C mandates that those who “by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation innuendo, or insinuation, directly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life and shall also be liable for fine.”
How can you break the law of another country when you do not live in that country? Americans are not under Pakistani rule. She felt the same way and reposted all of her Muhammed pics with the following response.
“As a US citizen subject to AMERICA’S laws—NOT Pakistan’s or Mohammed’s—I’ll now retweet my Mo cartoons & columns to 2.1 million followers every day & stand with free speech & free thought. How about you,
@Twitter @jack? http://michellemalkin.com/2015/01/09/the-mohammed-cartoons-and-other-riot-inducing-images/ … #FuckSharia”
She then wrote back to Twitter’s legal team.
“I have written to Twitter’s legal & media relations departments seeking answers and comment on why American citizens who use their service are now subject to Pakistan’s oppressive anti-blasphemy laws. No response yet – hi
@jack can you respond==> #SiliconValleySharia
Twitter did eventual respond just letting her know that they have to inform her when a complaint comes through. They then claimed she should continue to express herself freely.
It’s weird that Twitter would even mention this to someone in America. Are they trying to intimidate Americans now?
