Widow Faces Husband’s Accused Murderer, Libs Blame Everything BUT His Status
It’s a heartbreaking tale we hear too often. A family in mourning after having lost a loved one because of poor immigration practices. In February of this year, a man in the united states illegally was out joyriding while intoxicated. His vehicle struck an Uber car, killing the driver, Jeffrey Monroe, and passenger, Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson.
The driver, Manuel Orrego-Savala from Guatemala, was handed 8 years for each man’s death after making a plea deal with prosecutors. Both women were in court when sentencing was handed out and was given the opportunity to face the man who took their husbands lives.
Orrego-Savala was deported twice previously and returned to the U.S at least three times. He was stopped a third time by police but gave an alias to avoid deportation.
Orrego-Savala’s blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit when he slammed his Ford F-150 into the Uber car and later fled the scene. Leaving the fatally injured men on the roadway.
Rather than admit that it was bad immigration practices that brought them all to court Friday, liberals and prosecutors blamed drunk driving. Completely ignoring Orrego-Savala’s legal status and that he should not have been in the U.S at the time.
Deborah Monroe’s, wife of the slain driver, statement to Orrego-Savala is just heartwrenching:
“You didn’t even have the decency to pull his dead body from the road before you ran,” she added. “He was my everything. He was the love of my life…Every time I go by there, I see his blood on the road..I’m empty inside.”
But, Monroe also said at one point she was “almost ready to forgive” the guilty. But, she said, “Then I read the autopsy report. I will never, never forgive you.”
According to Town Hall, Edwin Jackson’s mother was also in the courtroom, Mary Ellen. “Our hearts have been ripped apart and are always missing a beat now. We pray for justice from the courts,” she said. “Edwin was a lighthouse. His character was unwavering.”
For his part, Orrego-Savala begged for forgiveness in a written letter. “I can’t believe I’ve done this to another person…Please, God, forgive me…Please, I was not trying to kill or hurt anyone. I ask the family — the courts — and God to all please forgive me.”
As Reported By The Indy Star:
The February crash drew national attention to Orrego-Savala — including a temporary appearance in an advertisement for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Braun and a tweet from President Trump — because Orrego-Savala is in the United States illegally.
“The tragic loss of Edwin Jackson and Jeffery Monroe drew national attention, but not for the appropriate reasons,” Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said in a statement. “Their deaths should serve as a stark reminder to the unnecessary fatal consequences that can result from intoxicated driving.”
Orrego-Savala is believed to have entered the country illegally around July 1, 2004, according to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman. He was then convicted of driving under the influence in Redwood City, California, in 2005.
In October 2006, he was arrested by agents in San Francisco and deported in January 2007, according to a federal criminal complaint. A little more than two years later, in March 2009, he was again arrested in San Francisco and deported that May.
Last year, Orrego-Savala was convicted in Boone County for driving without a license. But he was arrested and charged under the name Alex Cabrera-Gonsales, an alias that he has used in the past, according to local and federal authorities.
