The National Anthem is powerful, it stirs the national pride in all of us, aside from some disrespectful NFL players. For the most part, everyone who sings it does their best and no one can really be too critical as the song is so touching. But there have been some mockeries like that of Rose Ann Bar which are clearly disrespectful.
Fergie the Popstar is known for The Black Eyes Peas and her solo albums. She has done the anthem numerous times and can really sing. So when she was set to sing at NBA All-Stars game this version was unexpected.
She was of course harshly criticized all over twitter. It seemed like she was trying to sexualize the song in some way and that’s just not what the National Anthem is about. It should be a given that the Anthem does not need help to move people. When sung correctly it is always a heartfelt song. But maybe this is why Critics were so upset because she has done so much better before. When she sang the Anthem for the Superbowl back in 2013

Fergie saw that her rendition was not a crowd favorite and made a statement about it.
“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly, this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best,” the Black Eyed Peas singer told TMZ.
At least she addressed the critics and everyone, letting them know that there were not any slights intended. So hopefully she will go back to her previous version as it was really inspiring.
