Liberals are outraged that Brett Kavanaugh is being pushed through as the replacement for Kennedy. They can’t stand the fact that they may lose Roe v Wade. A precedent that protects their sacred abortion rights.
The Liberals claim that the protest was “crucial because the senators are refusing to meet with their constituents and hear their opinions.”
“Every senator needs to know that their voting base fully understands what’s on the line with this vote and what’s at stake around this lifetime appointment,” said Anna Galland, executive director of MoveOn.org. “We’re seeing fiery energy at the grassroots level all across the country to stop this nomination.”
The outspoken Chelsea Handler also got involved with the protest.
Let’s not let the Republicans— who do nothing to stop Trump from wreaking havoc on our country—appoint a Supreme Court Justice who is going to strip the rights of women. We can stop this. pic.twitter.com/B18ifhrJQ7
“Donald Trump repeatedly promised to only appoint Supreme Court Justices that will overturn Roe v. Wade, criminalize abortion, and punish women. He has found his man in Brett Kavanaugh,” said Chelsea Handler. “Let’s be crystal clear: abortion rights, and by proxy, women’s ability to be equal partners in society, is on the line in this fight. Brett Kavanaugh will turn back the clock on decades worth of progress for women.
What could be more important than fighting for the rights of our daughters, mothers, and sisters not to be thrown in jail for making decisions about their own bodies and futures? We need to do everything possible to defeat this nomination. We need to speak out. We need to call our senators. We need to take to the streets. Every single voice matters, and it’s a fight I know we can win. I am proud to join with NARAL in this fight.”
Protesters took to the street wasting time and putting on a show for all who watched. The held up signs like “Kava-nope” and some had the ridiculous notion to wear clothes similar to that of the tv show “Handmaiden’s Tale.”
As if to say that Kavanaugh’s appointment was somehow comparable to a society that enslaved women and forced some to procreate with the higher-ups.
