Even Feinstein Is Now Backpedaling On The Kavanaugh Allegations

The Kavanaugh allegation looks to be losing momentum. The Democrats, who have waited until just before Kavanaugh appointment to pull this maneuver, are now upset with the DOJ and FBI as both departments are unwilling to open an investigation into this allegation. On top of this setback to the Democrat’s stall tactic, the accuser has now gone silent.

The accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, has claimed that she is not willing to come forward and speak until there is a nonpartisan FBI investigation opened into Kavanaugh.

Speaking through her lawyers, Christine Blasey Ford did not explicitly rule out appearing Monday before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify along with Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh. But echoing Senate Democrats, she said that an investigation should be “the first step” before she is put “on national television to relive this traumatic and harrowing incident.”

In a letter to the committee, Dr. Blasey’s lawyers complained that some senators have already “made up their minds” but did not explicitly rule out appearing before them. In a subsequent appearance on CNN, however, one of the lawyers, Lisa J. Banks, seemed to suggest that Dr. Blasey would not show up.

“She’s not prepared to talk with them at a hearing on Monday,” Ms. Banks said. Even if Republicans agreed to an F.B.I. investigation, it would take time to complete, she added. “No legitimate investigation is going to happen between now and Monday.”

Seeing that her demands are not being met and under claims of duress Ford and her family are now in hiding. Ford is supposedly no longer answering calls from Senators. So no one is sure whether she will show up on Monday or not.

A person close to Ford told The New York Times that the accuser is “effectively in hiding” and has arranged for private security for herself and her family.”

In light of the accuser going silent Senator Feinstein is suddenly making the following backpedaling claim.

I have no say, I’m the lead Democrat. … I think it’s really too bad that no one called her, or called her lawyer,” Feinstein, D-Calif., told Fox News on Tuesday. “My understanding is she got emails. This is a woman who has been profoundly impacted by this. Now, I can’t say everything’s truthful. I don’t know. But I do know that you’ve got to contact her lawyers.”

Grassley also accused Feinstein of refusing to help set up follow-up calls involving Kavanaugh and Ford, which he called “standard procedure” when there are updates to a nominee’s background file.

“I asked Senator Feinstein’s office yesterday to join me in scheduling these follow-ups,” Grassley wrote. “Thus far, they have refused. But as a necessary step in evaluating these claims, I’ll continue working to set them up.”

It looks like Feinstein is once again trying to draw the process out as long as possible. But lucky for the American people, the Judiciary Committee is not going to stand for it. Many Senators have already claimed if Ford is unwilling to show they will push to move the appointment along.
