Joe Biden Makes SICK “Deliverance” Movie Comparison When Talking About Kavanaugh Hearing.
The Bidens were on NBC’s Today show to promote their non-profit called ‘The Biden Cancer Initiative“. The goal is to bring people together to help find a cure for cancer. But the Today host took away from that noble effort by having Biden comment on the Kavanaugh Hearing. ‘
The former Vice President started off fine commenting about how the Senator’s need to learn from the Anita Hill case and respect the victim. He also shared the belief of many Democrats that an investigation should be opened by the FBI. But he was not able to keep that civil sentiment up as his true feelings eventually came out.
Host Craig Melvin asked Biden the following question:
“How do you balance the rights of a woman who is making accusations like this versus the presumption that a person is innocent until proven guilty?”
Biden then said something odd. “Well I think the presumption should exist but what should happen is the woman should be given the benefit of the doubt and not be abused again by the system.” So is he saying that the Senators should presume the alleged is guilty? It is tragic that these type of incidents happen and I would say that a woman in this situation should always be heard. But she has to be questioned just like anyone else. That’s just part of our system because there are those that could maliciously slander. The character of a person matters when determining the credibility.
But Biden went overboard with his next response. In the context of still talking about the Kavanaugh hearing, he thought to make a comparison with the movie Deliverance. The scene where the heavier set guy gets raped by the Woods people. “How about if you had been abused, you see the movies “Deliverance,” how about if you were the guys strapped to the tree? Would you come forward? Would you want to relive that?”
Watch The Video Below.
I think Biden is partially right as far as we can’t immediately discredit or dismiss people. But he loses me when he feels that the character of a person is not a factor to determine credibility. His whole tangent on “Deliverance” seems to be way over the top in the context of the Kavanaugh allegations. No one is claiming that anyone was raped in this case.
They should have just stuck to the noble cause of cancer awareness, as he was clearly not ready to field the Kavanaugh question if Deliverance comes to mind.
