John McCain has decided he will no longer be receiving treatments for his brain cancer. McCain has been fighting Glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer since 2017. It has been a rough road.
The McCain Family released a statement about his decision on Twitter.
“I love my husband with all of my heart. God bless everyone who has cared for my husband along this journey.”
And then the statement:
“Last Summer, Senator John McCain shared with Americans the news our family already knew: he had been diagnosed with an aggressive Glioblastoma, and the prognosis was serious. In the year since, John had surpassed expectations for his survival. But the progress of the disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict. With his usual strength of will, he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment. Our family is immensely grateful for the support and kindness of all of his caregivers over the last year, and for the continuing outpouring of concern and affection from John’s many friends and associates, and the many thousands of people who are keeping him in their prayers. God bless and thank you all.”

McCain has been away from Capitol Hill since December 2017 but was very outspoken against Trump.
“McCain, who has said America-First conservatives make up a mere sliver of the Party, also wrote the faction must be “confronted before their noxious views spread further and damage for generations the reputation of the Republican Party.”
“They’re still a small fraction in the Republican Party. But they’re the ones getting all the attention right now. They need to be confronted, not ignored or winked at or quietly dismissed as kooks,” the former presidential candidate wrote. “They need to be confronted before their noxious views spread further and damage for generations the reputation of the Republican Party.”
