AOC Thinks Government Should Be Handing Out Houses

Rep AOC is not done coming up with her expensive solutions. She recently gave a speech about how she feels housing prices are not fair. She felt that if the elderly can live in nice places for less, so should she.

“I move into this building, and it’s marketed as a ‘luxury’ building in D.C., right? I’m keeping it 100% with you,” AOC started. “So I move into this luxury building in D.C. And what does it have? It’s an efficient building, it’s clean, it has public space, it has a rooftop garden — y’all watching my Instagram — it has all these things, right? It has clean air, it has clean water. And I think about this and I’m like, ‘Hm, this is what a luxury building is like, right?'”

“I just toured an affordable housing unit yesterday in Queens. This was one of the first developments of its kind… It’s a phenomenal building,” she claimed.

“I go in and I do a tour with one of these seniors. She opens the door, and I open it, and it looks just like my luxury apartment. What that shows me is that what we have been taught, is a luxury, should not be a luxury.”

AOC then went on to claim that her building should not be considered luxury. She felt it is price gauging.

“Another world is possible. We can live in places, and we can live with either responsible landlords or we can live in buildings that are non-for-profit or tenant owned. There are so many ways that we can slice this. And we can structure it in a way where all people have a right to a dignified home, and it’s not science fiction and it’s not just for the rich. Because what we have been taught and what we have been conditioned is that basic rights are luxury and a privilege when they are not.”

She also tweeted about it

“Skyrocketing cost of living is a national crisis that CAN be addressed. It’s not just an NYC issue – it’s happening in every US metro area. We need to kick luxury real estate lobbyists to the curb and defend working people’s way of life.”

There is no such thing as free. AOC wants housing for everyone, but who is going to pick up the tab for that? No one is forcing AOC or anyone to live in the city. Most people live outside of the city and commute since it’s cheaper. Just how much does she want to tax everyone to make this happen? Or is it that she wants the govt to create housing caps forcing home/apartment owners to lower their prices?
