Black Lives Matter Once Again Promotes Anti-White Christmas
Christmas is a time for togetherness, where family comes together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a magical time of the year. But according to the Black Lives Matter movement, it is a time to punish white business owners. The BLM movement is celebrating its 6th annual Black Xmas. An event where they push black folks to refrain from buying gifts from white business owners.
“Black Lives Matter launched it’s sixth annual ‘Black Xmas’ drive over the extended Thanksgiving weekend, encouraging allies and people of color to “divest from White capitalism” and “invest in the Black community.”
Canvassers began targeting shoppers in the Los Angeles area on Black Friday, calling for “no spending with White companies” through New Year’s Day.
“Part of the Black Xmas campaign is to educate black folks about what we’re doing, about the importance of holding back our dollars during this holiday season,” said Jan Williams, an SEIU member who heads BLM’s Black Xmas shopper education outreach program.
Dr. Melina Abdullah, the lead organizer of BLM’s L.A. chapter (BLM-LA), recently described Christmastime as a “frenzy of consumerism that’s rooted in white capitalism,” claiming America’s capitalist economic system was designed to oppress black people. BLM established Black Xmas in 2014 to promote more collectivist approaches to economic liberty for communities of color.”
Black Lives Matter posted the following to explain what Black Xmas is all about.
“Christmas season is a time when corporations attempt to whip people up into a frenzy of consumerism which feeds the rampant capitalism that exploits our people and is tied to the police state that kills us. When we resist, we are resisting White-supremacist-patriarchal-heternormative-capitalism…as embodied by Donald Trump and others.
WHAT ARE WE CALLING FOR?
1. DIVEST from spending with White corporations from 11/25 (Black Friday) to 1/1.
2. INVEST in building Black community. This means curbing consumerism altogether and giving to Black-led community-based organizations. If you must buy, #BuyBlack. A list of organizations and Black businesses will be posted here in the next few days and on www.blacklivesmatter.com. If you have a business (brick and mortar or web-based), please email us at email@example.com, so that we can include you on the list.
3. MAKE YOUR COMMITMENT KNOWN by sharing information on social media and changing your profile picture to #BlackXmas.”
So Black Xmas is about exclusion and promoting one race over another. If any other race were to do this to another it would be considered racist. I understand if they want to encourage people in their community to buy from black businesses, but to tell them to refrain from purchasing from white businesses just because of their race is wrong. Luckily this seems to be a limited “celebration” and doesn’t seem to be spreading, perhaps people are seeing this black Xmas for what it is, and don’t feel the need to be part of it.
