With the exception of a handful of lawmakers, California legislators ignored the brutal slaying of Corporal Ronil Singh because they didn’t want to draw attention to their failed ‘sanctuary’ policies. Those same lawmakers would hate it if anyone were to wise up and stop them from writing anymore lax and dangerous bills.
To add fuel to the fire, State Senate President Pro Tempore Emeritus Kevin de Leon, the author of California’s sanctuary state bill, decided to offer his condolences to the Singh family.
The suspect was stopped by Singh for a DUI investigation before engaging in a gunfight with the officer, during which Singh tried to defend himself, Christianson said. Singh had called in the traffic stop and reported “shots fired” over his radio a few minutes later, sheriff’s officials previously said. The suspect fled when backup officers arrived to assist Singh, who was then rushed to a hospital. He later died from his gunshot wounds, the department said.
According to outgoing Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson, California being considered a sanctuary state is the reason Cpl. Singh died.
Town Hall reported that Singh’s killer, 32-year-old Gustavo Perez Arriaga, was an illegal alien from Mexico. He resided in the United States the last few years.
“This is a criminal illegal alien with prior criminal activity that should have been reported to ICE,” Christianson explained. “We were prohibited, law enforcement was prohibited because of sanctuary laws and that led to the encounter with (Cpl.) Singh. I’m suggesting that the outcome could have been different if law enforcement wasn’t restricted, prohibited or had their hands tied because of political interference.”
Previously the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department posted several photos of the suspect, who is currently at large, confirming that “these are the pictures of the man who murdered Corporal Ronil Singh.” The Department could not, however, confirm that the name and date of birth associated with those photos being circulated is correct.
The following pictures of the suspect including a name & birth date have been circulating on social media. We can confirm these are pictures of the man who murdered Corporal Ronil Singh. We CANNOT, however, confirm that the correct name or birth date is being put out. pic.twitter.com/cSCvE1DhEF
In one of the images, the man is wearing a tank top that shows a tattoo on his right arm of a flaming skull. Beneath it is the word “$ur3no$,” which means “southerners,” according to police in Washington State, Fox News reports.
Hats off to this Sherif, who spoke with such deep and heartfelt conviction against the sanctuary laws that preven5ted law enforcement from reporting the suspect previously to ICE. He’s absolutely right, this did NOT need to happen and politics should never prevent law enforcement from doing their jobs.
Singh, a legal immigrant, leaves behind his wife and 5-year-old daughter. Our hearts go out to his family, as well as his extended family in blue.
