California Mother Scares Off Home Invaders
It seems California is just a tough place to live in general. A Pleasanton, California mother found herself the victim of a home invasion just after her husband left for work. Mother Andrea Legget was just getting out the shower when she heard her house shaking, masked men were trying to break down her door. She was just lucky they were not expecting her to be there.
“A family in California says they are just glad no one was hurt when two masked men attempted a home invasion while a mother and her son were inside.
Andrea Leggett says she was in the shower Wednesday morning, and her son was waiting for a ride to school downstairs at their Pleasanton, California, home. Surveillance video shows two masked men approach the house, knock, then begin kicking in the front doors.
“I didn’t know what it was. Half the house was shaking because of the way they were trying to force themselves inside the house,” Andrea Leggett said.
The mother grabbed a towel and ran downstairs to see what was happening, just as the men broke open the doors on their sixth try. Thankfully, the would-be burglars ran away when they saw her screaming at them from inside the home.”
“Lt. Brandon Stocking with the Pleasanton Police Department says it is a pattern law enforcement sees quite often.
“It’s when they get no answer, they go forward with the burglary,” says Lt. Stocking.
Stocking says he can’t comment on the ongoing investigation, except that they are actively pursuing several leads.
Andrea’s husband, Darren, says he’s thankful his family wasn’t hurt. He thinks it was a completely random attack.
“When they saw me pull out to take my oldest to (school), they thought, ‘Oh. They are gone. No one is there.’ It’s an empty driveway,” explains Darren Leggett.”
“Leggett said he did not recognize the man who was not wearing a mask in the surveillance video, adding that he thought his home was targeted randomly. He also said his wife would have made it difficult for them to get away with anything. “I wouldn’t want to mess with my wife,” Leggett told Fox News.”

“Sara Porter lives a few doors down. What worries her is that the Leggett’s had security signs posted at the front of the house, an alarm system, security cameras — even barking dogs, but it still didn’t stop the break-in.
“That’s what makes it most unnerving for us, is that all security measures are put in place, and it still happened,” says Porter.”
It’s surprising that they were ready to take on dogs as they usually deter most criminals. But I guess they were not ready to take on an angry mother, even if she was only armed with a towel. If only she had some kind of tool that could have leveled the playing field…
