The Center for Immigration (CIS) put out a series of tweets about the border. They revealed that the media and Congress are really hurting us when it comes to border security. The recent twitter panel included Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan, Texas sheriff Andy Louderback, and the Center’s Andrew Arthur.
“The Center for Immigration Studies is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit, research organization. Since our founding in 1985 by Otis Graham Jr., we have pursued a single mission – providing immigration policymakers, the academic community, news media, and concerned citizens with reliable information about the social, economic, environmental, security, and fiscal consequences of legal and illegal immigration into the United States.”
CIS covered one of the main loopholes that migrants are exploiting.
“”The primary loophole migrants are exploiting is Flores…Under a July 2016 decision interpreting Flores, it said DHS can only detain alien minors for 20 days regardless of whether they’re accompanied. Flores encourages parents to hire smugglers to bring their children here.”
“Parents bring their children on this perilous journey because they know, due to Flores, that their kids will be released within 20 days. So every time you hear about a child dying on the border, know where responsibility lies. This is drawing children to the U.S.” -Art Arthur
CIS also covered the state of the Detention Centers
“People talk about ‘kids in cages.’ I was there when it was built. It was under Obama and Jeh Johnson. They were built in 2015. As far as ‘for profit detention centers’, they do it a hell of a lot cheaper than the government can. The private facilities are our best.” -Tom Homan
“By the way, the only purpose of these chain-link fences, which they’re calling cages, is to protect the kids by keeping them separated from unsafe strangers and adults.” -Tom Homan”
“”People talk about deaths in ICE custody. The city of New York has eight times the number of deaths in custody than ICE does. ICE’s rate is lower than nearly every penal system in this country. The problem is that when people come into ICE custody, many are in bad shape.” -Homan”
They then got to the root of the problem Congress’ inaction.
“”The people in Congress complaining about the conditions of people in custody are the very same people who are not giving the funding to make those facilities better. What have they done to address the crisis at all? What has Congress done?” -Tom Homan”
“This whole thing started after DACA. Families come across and figure, ‘Well, I’ll be in the next DACA.’ They hide out and wait for the next amnesty giveaway, rather than listen to our laws.” -Tom Homan
We need more of this. We need more truth coming out as opposed to the MSM’s distorted version of reality. Now if only lawmakers would just listen to knowledgable people like this.
