According to the residents of crime-ridden Chicago, Democratic Mayor Rahm Emanuel is a crook and cares more about non-legal immigrants than it’s own citizens. During Thursday’s protest, residence held nothing back when they spoke about their Mayor.
The die-hard Democrats have asked for President Trump’s help in taking back their ‘Sanctuary city” and getting Mayor Emanuel to step down. Trump has spoken out over the years about Chicago’s rising crime rates so is it any wonder the people of Chicago would reach out to the President?
Emanuel proclaimed – “To all the Dreamers that are here in this room and the city of Chicago: you are welcome in the city of Chicago. This is your home and you have nothing to worry about. Chicago, our schools, our neighborhoods, our city, as it relates to what President Trump said, will be a Trump-free zone. You have nothing to worry about. And I want you to know this, and I want your families to know this. And rest assured, I want you to come to school… and pursue your dreams.”
The term “sanctuary city” is a broad term applied to jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with or involve themselves in federal immigration enforcement actions. Various cities, counties and even some states such as California and Maryland have a range of policies as well as actual laws that qualify as offering “sanctuary” for illegal aliens.
It seems that in his attempts virtue signal about just how progressive and tolerant he is, Emanuel forgot the actual citizenry of Chicago that elected him as mayor in the first place, however. The beleaguered black populace of Chicago already significantly overtaxed in a city riddled with debt, high crime, rampant gang violence while they attempt to fight poverty and joblessness.
All while the city of Chicago continues to deny their citizens the legal right to defend themselves against the rampant g*n violence taking place on their city streets. In spite of the ruling of McDonald v. the City of Chicago rending the anti-g*n laws of the city unconstitutional, Emanuel and other city leaders continue to mire the citizens of Chicago in bureaucracy that virtually renders the ruling void in actual practice.
