The witchhunt continues on with no end in sight. How could it when the anti-Trumpers change course each time they come up empty-handed on whatever bogus claim liberals concoct? It’s a “Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” kind of pursuit but the jokes on them because Trump’s blown their shaking accusations out of the water, every-single-time.
Amid mounting pressure on President Trump from the Robert Mueller investigation, the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office has reportedly launched another Trump-related investigation, this time involving the president’s inaugural team.
The Wall Street Journal first reported that Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are investigating whether President Trump’s 2017 inaugural committee misspent some of the record $107 million it raised from donations.
Citing conversations with people familiar with the investigation, which is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan, the Journal reported that prosecutors are also looking into whether the committee accepted donations from individuals looking to gain influence in or access to the new administration.
The newspaper notes that “giving money in exchange for political favors”
Yup, you read that right. Meuller has been unable to fulfill the deep state’s agenda so now allegedly so a few Fprosecutorsers in Manhatten are joining in on the efforts.
White House Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders, fired back from under a ridiculous line of questioning into the matter:
“That doesn’t have anything to do with the president or the first lady. The biggest thing the president did — his engagement in the inauguration — was to come here and raise his hand and take the oath of office. The president was focused on the transition at that time and not on any of the planning for the inauguration.”
Which accurately sums up the involvement the President, or any president, has in their own inauguration.
In a statement, Mr. Trump’s inaugural committee said the celebration was “in full compliance with all applicable laws.”
“The [committee] is not aware of any pending investigations and has not been contacted by any prosecutors. We simply have no evidence the investigation exists,” the statement read. “The [committee’s] finances were fully audited internally and independently and are fully accounted. Moreover, the inauguration’s accounting was provided both to the Federal Election Commission and the IRS in compliance with all laws and regulations.”
“These were funds raised from private individuals and were then spent in accordance with the law and the expectations of the donors. The names of donors were provided to the FEC and have been public for nearly two years and those donors were vetted in accordance with the law and no improprieties have been found regarding the vetting of those donors.”
But will that be enough to appease the never-Trumpers? Not likely. Let’s just hope this doesn’t drag on endlessly. Taxpayers are sick of paying for these investigations that lead nowhere- which is exactly where we see this one going.
