Gwyneth Paltrow Speaks Up, A-List Actor Stood Up For Her Against Weinstein’s Harassment

The Hollywood #Metoo movement seems to have faded to the background, with many of the big names having faced the music and their empowered victims having stepped up to face them. But now after the dust has settled Gwyneth Paltrow is reminiscing about a time that actor Brad Pitt set Weinstein straight during an interview with Howard Stern.

Back in the 90’s when Paltrow was working with Weinstein he made a pass at her. She recounted the story in an interview with Howard Stern. Weinstein had asked her for a Massage.

We had one instance in a hotel room … where he made a pass at me,” Gwyneth said. It occurred early on in her career before she had become one of the most recognizable movie actresses in the world. “It was out of the blue and I’ll tell you, I had been having the most incredible experience at Miramax,” she continued. “I was blindsided.”

I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified,” Paltrow, who was 22-years-old at the time, told The New York Times.

Paltrow and Pitt had been dating at the time and she told him about the encounter. Pitt confronted Weinstein and let him know he was out of line.

While at the 1995 opening of “Hamlet” on Broadway, Gwyneth says Brad confronted Weinstein face to face, making it clear that if he ever touched her again, he’d be sorry.”

Pitt allegedly told Weinstein, “‘If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.’ Or something like that,” Paltrow recalled.”

It was like the equivalent of throwing him against the wall,” Gwyneth said of Brad’s actions. “It was so fantastic because what he did was, he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet.”

Pitt put Weinstein in his place, Paltrow never had a problem with Weinstein again.

Harvey was never inappropriate with me again. Ever,” Gwyneth told Howard. However, their working relationship remained one with many moments of contention. “Power was his currency and he knew when to, you know, give you something and take it away,” she said. “I did put it behind me but … our professional relationship was pretty fraught at times.”
