Liberal Baltimore Prosecutor, Marilyn Mosby, is under the gun for her alleged roll in the death of a beloved city officer. Mosby, who is up for reelection, lashed out basically saying that it’s not her fault the teen went on to kill anyone.
Sam Abed, chief of Baltimore’s juvenile services, says prosecutor Mosby is directly responsible for the death of Officer Caprio for previously releasing the 16-year-old Dawnta Harris on separate charges, despite juvenile justice officials asking her not to.
Officer Amy Caprio was called Monday afternoon to investigate a suspicious car in a quiet neighborhood cul-de-sac in Perry Hall. There she allegedly was run down and fatally injured by a 16-year-old from West Baltimore in a stolen Jeep. Dawnta Harris’ lawyers said the teen was scared and trying to drive away. He is charged with murder and held without bail, The Baltimore Sun Wrote.
Three other teens who went with him, police said, to allegedly burglarize homes in the suburbs also are charged with murder. All are scheduled to appear in court next week.
The sudden and senseless killing left Caprio’s family and fellow officers grasping for answers. The night before her funeral, the Rev. Luke Erickson searched for the words to comfort them. He wrote her eulogy.
Then, when tough-mindedness was called for in the Gray case, she chose to bow to the baying mob and launched bad prosecutions against six innocent cops. She consorted with then-White House consigliere Valerie Jarrett for advice. The result was a disaster. Her cowardice started riots, for one thing, and made Baltimore a wasteland where businesses (and the tax base) fled. Error two.
Then she saw one jury after another reject her specious arguments, dropping all the cases left following her third failure to convince a jury that anything she argued had merit. Error three.
The cops sued for malicious prosecution, and though they didn’t win (another bad ruling), Mosby was kept gummed up in courts and cost the city millions. Error four.
Now she let a thug out of the slammer against the arguments of juvenile services (who knew this guy well, with Abed calling him a “one-man crime wave”), and off he went and killed a cop. Error five.
