Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decided it was time to say something ridiculous again. In this instance, she tried to link climate change to a tornado warning in Washington D.C.
But it wasn’t a political figure that corrected her gaffe. She drew the attention of a meteorologist that took the time and effort to try and teach AOC the distinct difference between weather and climate.
She posted a video calling for people to take shelter. I’m not sure that it really helped as people were stuck in the rain and could not really watch her video.
“There’s people stuck outside!” she said in the video. “We need to get them out. This is crazy.”

But AOC was not done there. She continued her discussion about tornadoes on Instagram where she tried to tie the tornado warning to climate change.
“Well, that was something. Alarms went off in the building advising people to seek shelter. Apparently, the tornado moved/missed the city so quickly that they ended the warning shortly after.”
And also apparently this is a thing that happens in the summer here? With increasing intensity?”
The climate crisis is real, y’all – guess we’re at casual tornadoes in growing regions of the country?”
Meteorologist Ryan Maue was quick to explain that she was misleading the public again.
“I thought this was fake but it’s from @AOC Instagram story. No idea what she means with “casual tornadoes” and how this line of severe thunderstorms is proof of any “climate crisis”. It’s just the weather in D.C. ”
Maue was not done there he went on to try and teach AOC the difference between climate and weather.
“The Congresswoman @AOC does not know the difference between weather and climate.
Let’s try an easy analogy:
Weather is what outfit you wear heading out the door.
Climate is your closet wardrobe.”
I guess it was her turn as Tlaib and Omar have been taking all of the limelight recently with the ridiculous things they say.
