Mexican Presidential Candidate Urges Mexican Citizens To Migrate To The U.S.
It looks like Border Patrol is going to have a rough time this year. Especially if Mexico’s Presidential Candidate, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), wins the election this July. Border Patrol is having enough trouble as it is with the illegal immigrants and the Democrats claiming barbaric treatment. But they may be in for a surge of illegal immigrants as AMLO is calling for it.
AMLO did not merely hint at it either.
“And soon, very soon — after the victory of our movement — we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world,” Obrador said Tuesday as he urged Mexicans to “leave their towns and find a life in the United States.”
And to make matters worse he is the frontrunner in this election, which could spell trouble for US-Mexican relations. But AMLO claims he wants to try and work things out with Trump.
“We will not rule out the possibility of convincing Donald Trump just how wrong his foreign policy, and particularly his contemptuous attitude toward Mexico, have been,” he said
He said that he hoped to be able to negotiate a new rapport with Trump. When I expressed skepticism, he pointed to Trump’s fluctuating comments about the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un: “It shows that his positions aren’t irreducible ones, but made for appearances’ sake.” Behind the scenes, López Obrador’s aides have reached out to counterparts in the Trump Administration, trying to establish working relationships.”
Watch The Clip Below.
He could be all for show and this is just an attempt to get Mexico’s attention. As AMLO has expressed opposition to many of Trump’s views. So it will be surprising if he actually follows through and makes the effort to better relations with the U.S.
AMLO claims to want to defend all migrants. He doesn’t seem to care if the migrants enter legally or not. So Hopefully, he will at least recant the part about encouraging Mexican Migration to the U.S. We definitely don’t need a surge at the border.
