Rep Ted Lieu tried to slander Candace Owens during a Congressional Hearing about the rise of hate crimes and white nationalism.
Rep Lieu played a clip out of context where Owens talked about Nationalism and Hitler. He tried to say that Owens was in favor of Hitler.
“You know, he was a National Socialist, but if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, okay fine,” Owens said. “The problem is he had dreams outside of Germany. He wanted to globalize. He wanted everybody to be Germany.”
“Lieu did not ask Owens to respond, but rather asked another panel member, Eileen Hershenov from the Anti-Defamation League, “When people try to legitimize Adolph Hitler, does that feed into white nationalist ideology?”
“It does, Mr. Lieu,” Hershenov replied. “I know that Ms. Owens distanced herself from those comments later but we expressed great concern over the original comments.”
But luckily for Owens, she was given a chance to defend herself
“I think it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Lieu believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety. He is assuming that black people will not go and pursue the full two-hour clip. He purposefully cut off — and you didn’t hear the question that was asked of me. He’s trying to present it as if I was launching a defense of Hitler in Germany, when in fact the question that was presented to me was pertaining to whether I believed in nationalism and that nationalism was bad.”
“I do not believe that we should be characterizing Hitler as a nationalist. He was a homicidal, psychopathic maniac that killed his own people. A nationalist would not kill their own people.”
Owens then claimed it was “unbelievable dishonest” that Lieu wouldn’t let her respond to that clip. “I am deeply offended by the insinuation made from that clip,”
She owned Lieu. He thought his slander was going to stand. He didn’t realize that she is not someone to be trifled with. She deals in facts as opposed to the lies that Dems try to pull all the time.
