It is the fourth of July. A day where we celebrate the birth of our great nation. Our founding father’s fought off the English and allowed this country to prosper under the fair rules they put in place.
During this time Betsy Ross helped come up with a flag with 13 stars for our young nation. We were proud of that flag and to this day we should still be. But the left is at it once again.
Colin Kaepernick protested Nike’s idea for a Betsy Ross inspired shoe. He claimed it was racist. So Nike backed down. They threw that idea out. There was a public outcry, about how unpatriotic that was on Nike’s part. But as per usual, the MSM found someone even worse than Kaepernick, who was able to say an even more offensive thing about our past American Flag. He compared it to a swastika.
MSNBC Host Hallie Jackson asked Georgetown University, Professor Michael Eric Dyson, his opinion on our past flag. “Can you explain why this particular flag, this symbol is so offensive to some?”
“Well it hails from the revolutionary period of course of this nation’s founding which was deeply embroiled in, ya know enslavement… of the owners of slaves — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and the like — but also it’s the recent use of this flag,” Dyson replied. “Right-wing white supremacists have used it as a “rallying cry.”
“So right now this flag has been used by people that want to pommel African Americans, Latinas, Jews, and other people. Neo- Nazis who claim they have the true copyright on American identity.”
“So why not choose a flag that is representative of everybody?” Dyson asked.
“Words matter. Symbols matter, too,” Dyson told MSNBC host Hallie Jackson when she asked about concerns over political correctness.
“Why don’t we wear a swastika for July 4th? Because, I don’t know, it makes a difference,” he said. “The cross burning on somebody’s lawn. Why don’t we just have a Nike celebration of the cross well because those symbols are symbols of hate. So we can take PC culture back.”

I don’t know where he gets his info from. The 13-star flag is not a symbol of white supremacy. We are celebrating the Fourth of July, our day of Independence back in 1776. That was the flag that was used back then. The shoes were meant to celebrate that. He is blowing this whole thing out of proportion. This is why we can’t have nice things.
