Popstar Taylor Swift is apparently trying to edge her way into politics by pushing her beliefs on to her fans and making demands. The Pop Star spent a few minutes after receiving an award to call out the White House for not acting on the House Equality Bill. She claimed that her petition warranted a response. It didn’t as she was not following the rules, but they did anyway shutting down Swift who was out of her depth.
Swift’s attempt to bash the White House
“Regardless of who we are, regardless of how we identify, at the end of this video there was a petition — and there still is a petition for the Equality Act, which basically just says we all deserve equal rights under the law.
“Let’s show our pride by demanding that, on a national level, our laws truly treat all of our citizens equally. Please sign my petition for Senate support of the Equality Act on change.org,” the title card reads.
And, I want to thank everyone who signed that petition because it now has half-a-million signatures, which is five times the amount that it would need to warrant a response from the White House,” Swift added looking down at her wrist simulating looking at a watch.
“The Trump Administration absolutely opposes discrimination of any kind and supports the equal treatment of all; however, the House-passed bill in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to undermine parental and conscience rights,” said the statement from a White House spokesperson.
“…The Equality Act does a lot more than just make people equal. It adds sexual orientation and gender identity to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, enshrining full protections under the law and trampling over the right to religious freedom enshrined in the First Amendment. In cases of competing rights claims, the Equality Act mandates that sexual and gender minorities win by default, when current standards under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act allow for a weighing of both sides. This doesn’t make gay and transgender people equal — it elevates their rights over those of religious minorities.
“But elites like Taylor Swift think you’re a bigot for opposing such a bill.
And the Equality Act’s radical re-definitions don’t stop there. It also re-defines sex — not gender — under the law as subject to self-identification. Many Americans, likely including Swift fans of varying political backgrounds, are simply not comfortable with eradicating biological sex under the law, and that doesn’t make them evil opponents of equality.”
This popstar likely doesn’t know any better either, that or like many liberal lacks a rudimentary understanding of biology.
