GOP congressmen Justin Amash really stepped in it with his supporters when he said that he trusts crook James Comey over the President. He took it a step further by saying that Trump needs to be impeached. Just like his buddies the Democrats, Amash has no grounds for impeachment but this drew a clear line of where Amash’s loyalties are.
After Amash’s obvious call for attention Republican Kevin McCarthy joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Feature, to put Amash on notice: “He [Amash] wants to have attention… He votes more with Nancy Pelosi than he ever votes with me. It’s a question of whether he is even in our Republican conference as a whole… He wants a Sunday show to put his name forward with a question.”
He was mainly responding to Amash’s Twitter meltdown where he called for impeachment and slammed supporters:
“Barr’s misrepresentations are significant but often subtle, frequently taking the form of sleight-of-hand qualifications or logical fallacies, which he hopes people will not notice.”
“Under our Constitution, the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” While “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” is not defined, the context implies conduct that violates the public trust.”
“Contrary to Barr’s portrayal, Mueller’s report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment.”
“Impeachment, which is a special form of indictment, does not even require probable cause that a crime (e.g., obstruction of justice) has been committed; it simply requires a finding that an official has engaged in careless, abusive, corrupt, or otherwise dishonorable conduct.”
“People who say there were no underlying crimes and therefore the president could not have intended to illegally obstruct the investigation—and therefore cannot be impeached—are resting their argument on several falsehoods”
“Never a fan of @justinamash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy. If he actually read the biased Mueller Report, “composed” by 18 Angry Dems who hated Trump,….”
“….he would see that it was nevertheless strong on NO COLLUSION and, ultimately, NO OBSTRUCTION…Anyway, how do you Obstruct when there is no crime and, in fact, the crimes were committed by the other side? Justin is a loser who sadly plays right into our opponents hands!”
Amash’s rant goes on and on. If you get a moment and feel like thumbing through it just click here. One thing is clear, Amash drank the kool-aid. It’s a political move that is bound to follow him throughout his career, no matter how short that might be.
