The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, who is a self-proclaimed feminist, is now readdressing the allegation where he groped a reporter in his youth. The incident happened 18 years ago, but now that it has come to light Trudeau is having trouble responding to the allegation.
At first, he had claimed that it was simply a good day no bad memories.
“I remember that day in Creston well,” Trudeau said on Sunday. “I had a good day that day. I don’t remember any negative interactions that day at all.”
But now he is re-addressing the incident. He claims it is due to taking more time to reflect that his answer is varying.
“I’ve been reflecting on the actual interaction and if I apologized later, then it would be because I sensed that she was not entirely comfortable with the interaction that we had,” Trudeau said to reporters. “Even when the original editorial came out, at the time I was fairly confident — I was very confident — that I hadn’t acted in a way that I felt was in any way inappropriate.”
“I’ll be blunt about it — often a man experiences an interaction as being benign or not inappropriate and a woman, particularly in a professional context, can experience it differently and we have to respect that and reflect on it,” he said.
Watch The Video Below.
In the newsreel above the Rose Knight, the subject of the supposed unwanted groping has claimed that she is not interested in pursuing the matter any further. Knight has verified that there was some unwanted contact but did not go into detail.
The Newsreel also claims the unwanted touch may have involved Knight’s butt. But we can only guess as she is not looking to come forward.
Trudeau looks to be quite apologetic and seems to want to make sure everyone knows he is still a champion of women’s rights.
But after this incident has come to light, is he still the feminist and champion of rights that he strives to be or is it all a smokescreen? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
