Iran recently decided to shoot down a U.S. drone, and it appears they did not have a good reason. If that were not bad enough they were chanting “Death To America” during their parliament. Trump originally was set to use force against the hateful country but decided to act more mercifully.
“This was an unprovoked attack on a U.S. surveillance asset that had not violated Iranian airspace at any time during its mission,” Lt. Gen. Joseph Guastella, Commander, U.S. Air Forces Central Command said. “This attack is an attempt to disrupt our ability to monitor the area following recent threats to international shipping and free flow of commerce.”
“America is the real terrorist in the world by spreading chaos in countries, giving advanced weapons to terrorist groups, causing insecurity, and still it says ‘Come, let’s negotiate’,” said Masoud Pezeshkian, the deputy speaker of the Iranian parliament, according to the wire service.
Lawmakers responded to his comment by chanting “death to America,” the news outlet reported.”
But Trump decided to give them a chance to reflect on their actions, instead of resorting to a war that they would surely lose, he decided on sanctions. He tweeted about it on Twitter.
“I am at Camp David working on many things, including Iran! We have a great Economy, Tariffs have been very helpful both with respect to the huge Dollars coming IN, & on helping to make good Trade Deals. The Dow heading to BEST June in 80 years! Stock Market BEST June in 50 years!”
“Iran cannot have Nuclear Weapons! Under the terrible Obama plan, they would have been on their way to Nuclear in a short number of years, and existing verification is not acceptable. We are putting major additional Sanctions on Iran on Monday. I look forward to the day that…..”
“….Sanctions come off Iran, and they become a productive and prosperous nation again – The sooner the better!”
It is a slap on the wrist, but it is also a warning. Iran is now on notice. This may not be on the same level as shooting down one our drones or death chants, but it is a good start. Hopefully, they will think twice. But if they act up again I am sure Trump will respond in kind.
