Trump Teaches the DNC a Lesson They Wont Soon Forget – Returns Debate Threats

The DNC is no longer interested in keeping the peace with FOX News. DNC Chairman Tom Perez announced that they will be omitting FOX because of its supposed ties to Trump.

The Democratic National Committee has announced it will omit Fox News from televising any of its primary debates during the 2020 presidential cycle, citing a recent report detailing the conservative network’s close rapport with Donald Trump.

In a statement to the Washington Post, DNC chairman Tom Perez said a New Yorker exposé on the depth of the Trump administration’s ties to Fox News cast doubt on the network’s capacity to hold a “fair and neutral” debate on the Democratic primaries.

“I believe that a key pathway to victory is to continue to expand our electorate and reach all voters,” Perez said. “That is why I have made it a priority to talk to a broad array of potential media partners, including Fox News.”

He added: “Recent reporting in the New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and Fox News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates. Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.”

Trump tweeted the following in response to the DNC barring FOX News from hosting any Democratic debates.

“Democrats just blocked from holding a debate. Good, then I think I’ll do the same thing with the Fake News Networks and the Radical Left Democrats in the General Election debates!”

It’s unlikely the president can make such a move. The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates arranges the general election debates for president and vice president.

President Trump could, of course, decline to participate.

It’s unclear which networks he would block if he had such an option. He has, in the past, referred to CNN and NBC as fake news.

Only debates during the presidential primary process are arranged by the national parties.”

I hope Trump refuses to go with anyone but FOX News for the main debates just to stick it to Tom Perez.
