Mueller filed a claim that alleges Trump directed Cohen to use campaign funds to pay off two separate women. Stormy Daniels and an unknown. Trump saw this and responded on Twitter.
“Democrats can’t find a Smocking Gun tying the Trump campaign to Russia after James Comey’s testimony. No Smocking Gun…No Collusion.” @FoxNews That’s because there was NO COLLUSION. So now the Dems go to a simple private transaction, wrongly call it a campaign contribution,
…which it was not (but even if it was, it is only a CIVIL CASE, like Obama’s – but it was done correctly by a lawyer and there would not even be a fine. Lawyer’s liability if he made a mistake, not me). Cohen just trying to get his sentence reduced. WITCH HUNT!
This has already been addressed as Rudy Giuliani stated a while back they did not use campaign funds in the case of Stormy Daniels.
“It’s not campaign money,” he [Giuliani] told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “No campaign finance violation.”
“Was the president really wise to take it out of personal funds rather than from campaign funds?” he added. “Thank God he did, [or else] he’d get a campaign finance violation they’d try to drum up into a felony or something. The president is personally protected.”
This is just another attempt by the Democrats to try and discredit and possibly impeach Trump. Nadler has already stated that even if this were true that they likely would not be able to impeach Trump. Since he is a sitting president.
As for Cohen, he has already proven himself to be a liar since he lied under oath to Congress. Now he’s just trying to save himself because he knows he is facing some serious jail time. Trump claims that even if there is merit to campaign funds being used that it was not by his direction and Cohen is on his own.
