President Trump sat down – and walked – with “60 Minutes” reporter Lesley Stahl around the White House grounds for their wide-ranging interview over the weekend. It aired just a couple days after the First Lady’s “Being Melania” special on ABC.
Trump and Stahl had a much more contentious interview than Mrs. Trump and ABC correspondent Tom Llamas, but, reflecting on their chat, Stahl told her coanchors that to her it felt as though Trump truly “enjoyed” sparring with her, according to Town Hall.
During the heated exchange, Trump stated, “The thing I’ve really learned is I never knew how dishonest the media was and I really mean it. I’m not saying that as a soundbite. I never knew how dishonest the media was –“
Stahl, interrupted, “I’m going to change the subject again.”
Trump responded, “No. The way you asked me a question, like about separation.”
Trump: “When I say Obama did it, you don’t want to talk about it.”
Trump: “When I say I did it, let’s make a big deal about it.”
Stahl: “I’m going to run your answer, but you did it four times.”
Trump: “I’m just telling you that you treated me much differently on the subject —“
Stahl, “I disagree but I don’t want to have that fight with you.”
Trump: “Hey, it’s okay. Leslie, it’s okay. In the meantime, I’m president and you’re not.”
Prior to the heated exchange, the 60 minutes reporter was very friendly with the President as they around the White House. The few moments she spent trying to belittle the President may have ruined any chances of her getting time to ‘sit and speak’ with Trump, again. Take a look:
Trump also noted how differently Leslie treats him once the two sat down in front of the camera and calls out the mainstream media and their pathetic smears against the Conservative party. His words are likely seared into Leslie’s brain after this. Maybe she will think twice next time before going up against President Trump.
