Fmr Democrat Leader Tells Party To Leave SCOTUS Alone

Democrats are trying to reshape the country while they hold the majority. Biden has recently created a committee to decide whether they are going to pack The Supreme Court or not. Dems, of course, think this is a great idea since they are upset that Trump was able to appoint three Supreme Court Justices and give the court a conservative lean. CNN’s Jim Acosta had Former Dem Senate Leader Harry Reid on to talk about Dems attempt to pack the court and surprisingly he wasn’t on board.

Acosta asked Reid his opinion about Biden creating a commission to alter The Supreme Court.

“I think we should be very, very, careful in doing so,” Reid replied.

“I have no problem with the commission, but I think that the commission is going to come back and disappoint a lot of people because I think they’re going to come back and say, ‘We should just kind of leave it alone,'” Reid said.

“I think it would be inappropriate at this time after that long history we’ve had in the country to have term limits for judges,” Reid continued.

“I think that we better be very, very careful in saying that we need to expand the Supreme Court. I think we better be very, very, careful,” he added.

Reid later brought up the filibuster.

“Let me just say one thing: the filibuster is on its way out,” Reid said. “It’s not a question ‘if,’ it’s a question ‘when.’ You cannot have a democracy that takes 60% of the vote.

“And so it’s only a question of time till the filibuster goes away.”

Acosta was not happy with Reid’s answer. He thought he was going to back up Biden and Dem’s plan to alter the SCOTUS. But instead, he told the truth that they should not be messing with the courts. Reid did say that the filibuster would soon end and hopefully, he is wrong about that as it is one of the few tools the minority party has to fight against the majority in the Senate. So without the filibuster, Dems will have free reign to pass whatever they want. McConnell has said he would do everything in his power to keep the filibuster and he might soon be put to the test.
