Sen Ted Cruz came down on PolitiFact for trying to correct him for claiming the GOP didn’t rig the game when it comes to The Supreme Court. PolitiFact claimed the GOP did rig the game by blocking the appointment of Merrick Garland, but that is just business as usual. PolitiFact is trying to normalize the Dems attempt to pack the court. Senator Cruz was not having it and responded to the biased post on Twitter.
Politifact’s biased tweet:
“NEW: Ted Cruz said, “You didn’t see Republicans when we had control of the Senate try to rig the game” in Supreme Court nominations. The GOP had the power to do what it did, but it doesn’t mean they weren’t rigging the game.”

Cruz responded to the tweet:
“Lying liars lie & that’s what Politi”fact” does every day. To “pack” the Supreme Court is to ADD seats for political advantage. Republicans did NOT do so when we had control-nobody even suggested it. Now, Dems have filed legislation to EXPAND SCOTUS from 9 to 13 Justices. FACT.”
“PolitiFact concluded that Cruz’s claim was “false” because Republicans blocked former President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland in 2016 following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, and then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell “raced” to get Amy Coney Barrett confirmed before the 2020 election. Thus, PolitiFact says that Republicans “were able to exercise their power in ways that benefited their party’s goals.”
The Dems are setting a poor precedent here as they are attacking the integrity of The Supreme Court with this move. We have not had any seat changes to the SCOTUS since 1869. There may not be anything in the constitution when it comes to how many seats there are supposed to be, but it seems like everyone understood that nine was the right number for the last 150+ years. Dems just want to dominate everything. They already have both houses and the Presidency, but that’s not enough. They want the SCOTUS too so they can completely transform our country unhindered.
