It is just amazing that anyone is still for the “defund the police” movement. The data is in and it shows that we need the police, which was honestly a no-brainer, to begin with. But Atlanta Councilman Antonio Brown is a pro defund the police advocate and tried to get Atlanta to join the defund bandwagon. Luckily for everyone in Atlanta reason won the day and they didn’t gut the police budget. But now Brown is making the news as it turns out he has been the victim of a crime. Some kids stole his car.
“Last year, Brown voted in support of an ordinance to withhold $73 million from the budget of the Atlanta Police Department. The ordinance was narrowly voted down.
Brown said the thieves jumped in his vehicle Wednesday after he got out to speak with community leader Ben Norman. He noted his white Mercedes-Benz coupe has keyless push-to-start ignition and he failed to realize it had been started, reports said.
The councilman described the kids as being between ages 6 and 12…”
“Brown said he tried to stop them, but got dragged a short distance and eventually let go after about a half block.”
“The reality is this: We need programmatic initiatives in place to help support these kids to be able to give them another pathway instead of them of them committing crimes,” Brown said.
“This is a generational poverty issue. These kids, it’s 12:30 in the afternoon. Why aren’t they in school? Why aren’t we enforcing systems to ensure that if they are not in school, they’re in recreational centers?” he said.”
“Brown did file a report with the Atlanta Police Department. Officers said they found Brown’s car a few hours later but did not say if they made any arrests. Brown said he does not want to press charges.”
This serves him right. Brown still complained after being carjacked though, claiming that police didn’t help and making it clear you just can’t fix stupid. Somehow Brown doesn’t realize how much worse things would be if the police had been defunded, despite there being ample evidence available from other cities that failed their constituents and sided with BLM.
