I hate when people talk out both sides of their faces. Where I am from, we also call this ‘double talk’. The View host Ana Navarro claimed that she was against having ‘5-year-olds at drag show’. Then, a few moments later she defended having small impressionable children at sexually explicit drag shows. “drag shows are not hurting the children!” Navarro would later scream.
What would make someone this deranged? Florida Gov Ron DeSantis, Apparently.
Last Friday, Navarro was up in arms decrying Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for suing a venue that hosts sexually explicit drag shows and allows children to attend (and bragged about her bridal shower being there).
“And what we’re seeing in Florida, I can’t even comprehend. This is a state where we have a housing crisis. This is a state where we have an insurance crisis. This is a state where we have a climate crisis. And instead, Ron DeSantis is focusing on drag queens,” she shrieked on Monday.
And despite saying that she doesn’t think “a five-year-old should be at a drag show,” Navarro, who has no kids of her own, shouted that this was just another “parental choice” issue conservatives are big on:
“If you are for parental choice when it comes to your kid wearing a mask to school if you are for parental choice when it comes to your kid learning about slavery and learning the true history of this country, then why in the Hell can’t you be about the parental choice on whether you take your kid to a drag show or not?”

SARA HAINES: You look at the GOP position on abortion always had exceptions. They always had rape, incest, and the life of the mother, and now you’ve got 13 states that have ceased nearly all abortions. Eight of them have no exception for rape or incest.
Now that is not at all in line with the — their constituents because 73 percent of Americans favor legal abortion if a woman’s life or health were at risk. 69 percent say it should be legal if the pregnancy is the result of rape. 70 percent of Republicans say there are some cases abortions should be legal and others are illegal.
They brought it back to the states with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, but now you have states deciding you can’t go to another state, which just flies in the face of what they’re saying when they say a state should be in control.
JOY BEHAR: What about contraception?
ANA NAVARRO (interrupting): That’s the kind of stuff that happens in Cuba. That’s the kind of stuff that happens in North Korea where they don’t let you travel out of those countries.
But I do think the party has — I think the party’s gone crazy, frankly to tell you the truth. Because I, you know, and I think what they’ve decided to do is manufacture — because these are manufactured culture wars. They are not real issues. As Billy Porter said here on Friday, the issue is gone; the change has happened when it comes to LGBTQ rights.

NAVARRO: And what we’re seeing in Florida, I can’t even comprehend. This is a state where we have a housing crisis. This is a state where we have an insurance crisis. This is a state where we have a climate crisis. And instead, Ron DeSantis is focusing on drag queens.
And so listen. Yes, do I think a 5-year-old should be at a drag show? No, but you know what? If you are for parental choice when it comes to your kid wearing a mask to school, if you are for parental choice when it comes to your kid learning about slavery and learning the true history of this country, then why in the hell can’t you be about parental choice on whether you take your kid to a drag show or not?
BEHAR: Well, that’s true.
NAVARRO: This is – You’re cherry-picking. [Interrupting Behar] Listen, I looked at the top causes of endangerment for children, of children’s death. It’s firearms. It’s car accidents. It’s drownings. It is not drag queens. I’ve yet to see a kid that dies from being exposed to a drag queen.
