This might be the absolute best segway into a topic I have ever witnessed at a White House Press Briefing. FXN’s Peter Doocy swept the floor with Press Sec Jean-Pierre. The Department of Homeland Security recently admitted that the refugees from Afghanistan were NOT properly vetted despite the claims from the White House that they were.
Recent news of criminal activity and deportations told us that the White House lied, no secret there. The way Doocy pivoted the conversation from allowing unchecked potential terrorists into the country with no regard to the recent hate speeches from Biden claiming Americans themselves are terrorists—FREAKING GOLD.
Doocy cited a report by a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) that said the country took in Afghan evacuees not fully vetted by the government. Jean-Pierre claimed that was fake news and stated that the U.S. government imposed a “rigorous and multi-layered” screening and vetting process—BUT DHS said that’s not true and that MANY of the evacues have incomplete or missing documents.
We’re talking about basic documents like name, address, birth certificate etc. You don’t have to take my word for it because I always bring receipts to the party. Read the DHS report for yourself [here].Just make sure you come back and watch Doocy drop kick this White House. It’s worth it.
Jean-Pierre’s answer was basically that the government did their own checks outside of the DHS’s vetting—With what agency? She offered zero proof or reference.
“Again, DHS has disputed this report and it said it didn’t take into account the key steps that we have taken as a U.S. government, the rigorous, multi-layered screening and vetting process that we take as a government,” she replied. “That was not part of the report. Again, this report is not accurate, I know that our team has spoken to your team about this and the DHS has provided a comment saying just that. So again, I refer you to DHS.”
He then questioned her on whether “MAGA [Make America Great Again] Republicans” or DHS-listed national security threats pose a bigger threat to the U.S.
“So in the last week or so, we’ve heard the president calling elected Republicans a threat to the country,” he said. “Does he think MAGA Republicans are more of a threat to the country than people DHS says may pose a risk to national security and the safety of local communities?”
Doocy’s question referenced President Joe Biden’s recent remarks that elected “MAGA Republicans” “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” He also said they have attacked Americans’ “fundamental rights” to privacy, contraception, abortion, and marriage equality.
“MAGA Republicans have made their choice. They embrace anger. They thrive on chaos. They live not in the light of truth, but in the shadow of lies. Together, we can choose a different path,” the president said Thursday.
I’m sorry but who is the real threat here? The unchecked immigrants hailing from the same country who harbored the terrorist that committed 9/11 or the angry American holding on tightly to the fleeting values of a once great nation? Is it not the priority of this administration to demonize half of the country while allowing genuine threats to go unchecked?
Something that needs to be said, is that the White House has been using January 6th as a broad brush to vilify supporters of the Make America Great initiative. The majority of the MAGA crowd was not involved or participants in any way with what happened at the Capitol, and they are more than aware of that.
