The left-wing media are freaking out after the Supreme Court heard two Affirmative Action cases. The narrative is that the courts are going to overturn AA altogether and that the prominently Asian group who brought those cases to the courts are ‘conservative’.
SCOTUS heard two cases that challenge the use of AA in the decision-making process of accepting or declining college applicants. The schools up for debate are Harvard and the University of North Carolina. During this week’s hearings, both schools agreed that their decision is based, in part on race, but that it’s only to bring a diverse atmosphere for students.
The nets are losing their minds and dropping ‘conservative’ like it’s a dirty word. They’re in a full-blown panic now that SCOTUS will hear two cases that challenge Affirmative Action. Already, they’re spreading lies about the groups who brought the cases to the court. They’re also complaining that the courts are “ideologically conservative.”.
The Supreme Court heard two cases Monday that challenges affirmative action as a tool used to decide who gets entry into college. Affirmative action sets a sort-of silent quota that a school, business, or government might meet in order to provide ‘diversity’. Predominantly Asian Americans and white students fall far down the list of ‘ideal’ candidates. These two cases challenge the use of affirmative action as a tool used by schools to pick students.
ABC’s Terry Moran falsely claimed that the cases were brought to the supreme court by ‘conservative activists’ If families who brought the cases before the courts are largely of Asian heritage and from varying backgrounds. Their political beliefs are never mentioned by the courts. Still, Moran asked, “Should race ever be a factor in college admissions? That’s the question that is once again come before the Supreme Court but this time it’s a court with an energized conservative majority, that’s already shown it’s ready and willing to overturn decades of precedent and settled law.
Moran later panicked that the court has two black justices with opposing views on the argument as if they should agree on fundamental issues based on what? The color of their skin. He questioned if the Supreme Court would outlaw affirmative action altogether as a deciding factor used by schools.
NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell: ”
This is a high-stakes, high-profile day for the Supreme Court this term. Affirmative action at Harvard and the University of North Carolina. Both schools say they used race as one component of a holistic look at students’ applications and they believe that that brings about a diverse campus that benefits everyone on their school campuses.
But a conservative group that represents Asian American and white students says that the use of race violates federal law and constitutional rights where race cannot be used to discriminate against a group for individual educational benefits. And this is a case, of course, that’s attracted a lot of attention. And separately, nine states have already passed their own state laws saying that affirmative action cannot be used in college admissions.”
Later, O’Donnell added, “That is the sense, Savannah. This is a supermajority. Six conservatives, three liberal justices on the court. And because the lower court had upheld affirmative action in college admissions, there is a sense that these justices want to look at that issue and may be willing to overturn it.”
Asian American families in the case were relieved to see the cases receive attention from the Supreme Court. Justice Thomas and Alito revealed that the schools give Asian students lower scores in integrity and other personality traits, seemingly based on race alone.
