In recent years, it seems like the Left has been given a platform to push their hard-left agenda in our schools. This is why parents across the country have been getting more active in school board activism and why they are pushing back against the hard-left curriculum being taught in our schools.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently made headlines when he took a stand against the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) course on African American Studies. He argued that the course was pushing too far into hard-left themes such as “Intersectionality and Activism” and thus violated state law.
CNN’s Don Lemon weighed in on the situation, accusing DeSantis of trying to make it “illegal to teach slavery” in schools. This is false and misleading. All DeSantis objected to was a hard-left perspective on teaching African American history and not just teaching facts about slavery without an ideological bent.
The truth is that the Left is trying to indoctrinate our kids in an attempt to shape society according to their own values. Unfortunately, teachers’ unions have been pushing this one-sided approach for decades now and it’s understandable that people would be concerned about politicians stepping in to dictate what kids are being taught.
At the end of the day, what our kids learn will have a direct impact on our society and it’s essential that we protect our children from inappropriate and ideological content. It’s clear that Don Lemon doesn’t understand this nuance and instead chose to mischaracterize DeSantis’ decision with his false claim.
This whole situation highlights the importance of school board activism and why it’s so important for parents to stay informed and involved. If left unchecked, the Left will continue to push their agenda in our schools and our kids will suffer for it. We need to fight back against this kind of indoctrination and make sure our kids are getting an education based on facts and not ideology.
