The recent ruling from a Wisconsin federal judge that allows a wrongful death lawsuit against Kyle Rittenhouse to proceed is nothing short of outrageous. Kyle, a 17-year-old at the time of the incident, was acquitted of all charges related to the shooting of Anthony Huber, Joseph Rosenbaum, and Gaige Grosskreutz during the 2020 Kenosha riots following the police shooting of a 29-year-old Black man, Jacob Blake.
Despite the fact that Rittenhouse was found to have acted in self-defense, John Huber, the father of Anthony Huber, is now claiming that law enforcement allowed a dangerous situation that violated his son’s constitutional rights and led to his death. This is a case with a number of complexities and is yet another example of how the justice system has been so heavily politicized.
Rittenhouse’s attorney argued that the then-17-year-old was acting in self-defense after being attacked from behind when he shot Grosskreutz, Rosenbaum, and Huber. The jury ultimately found Rittenhouse not guilty on all five counts, including first-degree reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. Yet, despite the acquittal, U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman allowed Huber’s civil rights lawsuit against Rittenhouse and other defendants to proceed.
Rittenhouse responded by tweeting: “We still have a long fight ahead of us this ruling was disappointing but expected. I respect the judges decision.”
This ruling is yet another example of the unjust nature of the justice system in this country. It’s a situation that highlights the need for a more comprehensive review of the justice system in these types of cases, where the decisions are based on facts and evidence, and where the outcome is rooted in the law, not politics.
It’s time for the legal system to stop pandering to politics and start considering the facts and evidence in these cases. It’s time for justice to be served, not political agendas. It’s time to stand up for the rights of all citizens and make sure that those who are wrongfully accused get the justice they deserve. It’s time to stand up for Kyle Rittenhouse.
The recent ruling from a Wisconsin federal judge that allows to proceed a wrongful death lawsuit against Kyle Rittenhouse has been met with disappointment. The lawsuit was filed by John Huber, the father of Anthony Huber who was shot and killed by Rittenhouse during a 2020 riot in Kenosha.
