This week we saw a devastating attack on The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, where six innocent lives were taken – including three young children. It’s a tragedy that should never have happened, and one that should never be forgotten.
Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way. Instead of mourning the victims, the Trans Resistance Network released a statement on Monday claiming that this was not one tragedy, but two.
They argued that the shooter, Audrey Hale, had no other way to be seen, and thus lashed out by taking the lives of other innocent people. They went on to blame the anti-trans legislation, and public callouts by Right-wing personalities and political figures, for the shooter’s actions.
The group that posted a statement mourning the death of the #Nashville transgender mass shooter had recently posted a graphic calling for others "to do literally ANYTHING to oppose trans genocide." Posts like this are their dog whistles to political violence. Like terrorist… https://t.co/WlnYOXwmi0 pic.twitter.com/x4ZuegjAy9

This is an outrageous attempt to turn a mass murderer into a martyr. It is disgusting that anyone would try to justify this atrocity by pointing the finger elsewhere. This was a targeted attack on children attending a Christian school, perpetrated by a domestic terrorist.
It is time for liberals and Democrats to stop using tragedies like this as political weapons. It is time for them to stop pushing for more gun control and to recognize that the Second Amendment is there to protect us.
It is time for them to stop blaming law-abiding gun owners for the actions of criminals. The only people responsible for this attack are the shooter and his enablers. It is time to focus on the real issues, like mental health, instead of pushing an agenda that only serves to strip law-abiding citizens of their right to bear arms.
This was a senseless act of violence, and it should be treated as such. No political agenda should be used to try and explain it away. We must honor the victims, and work to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.
Also, I don’t care what community a murderer belongs to, they are NOT a victim and mounting them is just sick and weird, in my opinion.
