New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu took his educational journey to Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN to educate Cooper that it is a fact to say Biden is prosecuting Trump and that the Department of Justice needs to regain its trust by doing a significantly better job at explaining itself when prosecuting Trump and not Biden or Hillary Clinton.
Sununu was just giving an explanation that someone from the DOJ has to go public to give an explanation and to explain their past mistakes, when Cooper asked, “I guess I don’t understand why the Department of Justice has to own that. I mean can’t two things be true? They can have made mistakes in the past but still play everything by the book in this particular case?” Sununu admitted that this is true but insisted that in order to regain a majority of the trust, they need to do a better job in explaining themselves when prosecuting Trump.
Despite this, Cooper was still unconvinced and believed that it was the responsible thing to do to trust that there is no politics behind the Trump case and asked Sununu if he believes that Joe Biden is prosecuting Donald Trump to hurt him politically. Sununu reasoned that Biden’s Department of Justice is prosecuting Trump, who is running against him and that regardless of whether you like the tone of the statement and why it is being said or not, it is a fact.
It is clear that Sununu is right in that optics matter and simply expecting people to fully trust the Department of Justice after events such as Clinton’s email scandal and Russia-gate is a near-impossible feat.
Watch
Sununu believes that to make a statement that the average American views as legitimate, the Department of Justice needs to make an effort to explain itself and win back the public’s trust. To his point, I say—Good luck!
Will the DOJ also be going after Hillary Clinton for her home base server scheme or Biden and Pence for also having classified documents? I don’t think so.
