In a recent interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn warned of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) ability to “surveil” American citizens. The CCP has been linked to numerous service centers in seven U.S. cities, as reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
“This is part of that soft propaganda that the Chinese Communist Party has pushed forward. We’ve seen it in Confucius classrooms, Confucius Institutes, sister city programs and now we find out that these cultural centers have actually been used as surveillance centers so that the Chinese Communist Party can surveil people that are here in the U.S.,” Blackburn said.
President Biden and the Democrats’ weak stance on foreign policy, particularly when it comes to the CCP, is a major concern. The lack of action and strong rhetoric to punish the CCP effectively empowers the authoritarian regime, making it difficult to know if CCP spying has extended to American citizens.
“We know that they are doing it on Chinese people. What we are wanting to do is to see how far this has spread. Are they surveilling Americans? We are looking at the seven cities where we’ve been able to pinpoint these OCSCs … and look at what they are actually doing behind these closed doors. What type of surveillance are they getting?” Blackburn said during the interview.
The Chinese espionage threat against the United States cannot be ignored any longer. Chinese citizens living in the U.S. could be targeted, but American citizens have just as much to fear. The CCP is no longer hiding the fact they are using agents to spy on citizens, and the Biden administration has yet to take any action to condemn or stop the Communist regime.
Instead of bolstering sanctions, lowering tariffs, and taking other measures to combat the CCP, the Biden administration chose to do nothing. President Biden should not keep his citizens in the dark and should instead ensure they are properly protected.
The CCP’s extensive surveillance program using these service centers could be used to intimidate Chinese Americans with differing opinions, as stated in a letter from a group of eight Republican senators. The Democratic Party’s refusal to take action in the face of this growing espionage threat puts every American citizen at risk.

It’s time for President Biden to address this issue head on, instead of ignoring the threat and potentially putting the lives of every American citizen in danger. We need strong leaders to protect our citizens and hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for its actions.
