Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appears to have turned a blind eye to the current border crisis, as evidenced by his stunning refusal to answer questions from reporters about the record number of migrants crossing into the US through ports of entries.
Amid growing concern over the Biden administration’s decision to use the CBP One phone app to bring in roughly 40,000 migrants, this reporter’s query was met with stony silence by Mayorkas as the two were walking near one another with security officers. “I’m sorry?,” Mayorkas said, after being identified as a reporter from the Daily Caller News Foundation. After once again being asked if he had anything to say on the matter, Mayorkas proceeded to walk away.
The issue is becoming increasingly significant, as the US Border Patrol recorded 99,495 illegal migrant encounters at the southern border in June alone. Even more migrants have been processed for entry at ports of entry, the number of which has surpassed all previous public records of 45,026.
When it comes to this crisis, House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green has been unequivocal in not just his potential solution to the issue, but in his criticism of the way in which the Biden administration has gone about it.
“There’s the lying to Congress, there’s the CBP One app, which is just this big shell game to produce automatic mass parole in violation of the laws passed by Congress. It is a wanton disregard for the separation of powers and the Constitution of the United States,” Green said.

This issue is becoming an undeniable fact: the government’s borderline reckless disregard for their own laws and regulations, and for the public safety, means that the border-wide crisis is showing few signs of being resolved anytime soon. With the Biden administration appearing keen to turn a blind eye to the problem, the world is waiting to see just what, if any, strategies they will be providing to put the brakes on this crisis.
