Recently, liberal media, including CNN This Morning, has been unfairly attacking Republican Presidential Candidate Ron DeSantis, for issuing brief commentary on a Florida curriculum update on the topic of slavery.
They have claimed that by merely explaining something about the education content, he is condoning and supporting slavery. What the media fails to understand is that President DeSantis has never been in favor of slavery or defended it; his explanation was completely accurate and appropriate.
In the curriculum update, the educational content mentioned how some slaves were able to use certain practices to their benefit. When asked to explain this sentence, DeSantis said that he didn’t write it but assumed they were referring to the trades some slaves learned in captivity. In response, Political commentator Errol Louis accused DeSantis of attacking Black history and claiming that Florida was incorrect in saying that slaves could learn skills. Very conveniently, Louis forgot to acknowledge that the term ‘freedmen’ referred to freed slaves.
Anchor Erica Hill also chimed in with her opinion, claiming that President DeSantis was manipulating the truth and promoting a ‘good narrative’. Again, Hill accused DeSantis of condoning slavery and calling it a job program- something which he never said. Mario Parker, the Bloomberg national politics team leader, followed Hill’s lead in criticizing DeSantis and claimed that he was ‘doubling down on slavery’.
It is very disappointing to see an innocuous statement about education being twisted into false proslavery rhetoric. The liberal media is doing damage to the President’s reputation simply to push their own political agenda.
It is clear that the Fair and Balanced media is working against the Republican Presidential candidate in ensuring his defeat. With that in mind, let us call them out for their lies and false accusations against President DeSantis for something he never stated.
