The blatant irony that Chuck Todd displayed on Meet the Press was truly stunning when he asked if Joe Biden should come out and address Republican criticisms surrounding his son Hunter’s alleged illegal activities. This is the same man who previously allowed Russia collusion hoaxer Adam Schiff to baselessly accuse then-President Donald Trump of plotting with Moscow to hijack the 2016 Presidential Election, which had not one shred of evidence.
“Do you think it would behoove the President for him to come out and say I had no business dealings with my son? My son’s issues are my son’s issues. Do you think he needs to say that more directly because there’s a lot of people that believe something else happened here?” asked Todd to Democrat Delaware Senator Chris Coons. Coons responded that “this investigation started during the Trump administration and they’ve come forward with not one shred of evidence tying President Biden to any of this” and that “President Biden needs to say anything more than he has.”
Todd then showed his discomfort at the accusation that Biden could be in trouble with Republicans even if there is no evidence to support it. “House Republicans are gonna accuse him whether they have the evidence or not,” said Todd almost with dread.
But where was Todd to say this same thing when Donald Trump was the target of Democratic-led false accusations claiming that the then-president had hired prostitutes to urinate on a hotel bed that the Obamas had supposedly lain in? It was only the sheer lack of objectivity in the mainstream media that allowed baseless accusations from the likes of Adam Schiff and his Democratic followers to be made into a national circus.
The only thing that the mainstream media and its liberal allies had in common when it came to Trump was their complete lack of regard for any form of tangible evidence.
When it comes to accusations of political corruption, they seem to make up their own rules based on whichever president is in office. The truth is evidence has always mattered, just not to the liberal media. The DOJ (and media) went after Trump without a shred of evidence. Meanwhile, they’re terrified the GOP will try to do the same.
This kind of blatant hypocrisy and lack of accountability have been the hallmarks of the mainstream media for too long and it must come to an end.
CHUCK TODD: I understand you believe this is all being emphasized due to politics, the Republican—the House Republicans. Let me ask you this, do you think it would behoove the President for him to come out and say I had no business dealings with my son? My son’s issues are my son’s issues. Do you think he needs to say that more directly because there’s a lot of people that believe something else happened here?
SEN. CHRIS COONS: Let’s be clear about that point, Chuck. There’s been a five-year investigation. Five years! By a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney. This investigation started during the Trump administration and they’ve come forward with not one shred of evidence tying President Biden to any of this. I am encouraged that in sharp contrast to President Trump, you’ve just detailed his mountain of legal problems where President Trump is fighting, and pushing back and obstructing. Hunter Biden’s come forward, taken responsibility, paid his late taxes as you just discussed with Chuck Rosenberg, I think the hiccup in the Delaware District Courthouse will get ironed out pretty quickly and I don’t think President Biden needs to say anything more than he has.

TODD: House Republicans are gonna accuse him.
[crosstalk]
COONS: They’ll accuse him of all sorts of stuff.
TODD: Whether they have the evidence or not.
COONS: Correct.
TODD: The question—and they may have an information ecosystem that helps amplify it to a point where you don’t think he needs—hey, despite what you hear, just so you know I don’t do business with my son or my brother.
