The constant rants from liberal pundits on MSNBC, like Andrea Mitchell, demonstrate that they’ve become obsessed with smearing President Trump. They’d rather focus on manufactured controversies rather than real issues. And it is particularly concerning that in the wake of the fourth indictment against Donald Trump, Mitchell’s worry is less about the facts of the case and more about its impact on Biden’s reelection prospects.
Seeking some comforting words from New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker, Mitchell asked, “How do Trump opponents, Republican opponents as well as White House opponents, how do they break through indictment fatigue?” Her worry wasn’t that an injustice was occurring, but rather that people would become desensitized to the impeaching of Donald Trump.
Though Baker did admit that “the unprecedented has become routine” and “there’s no question that the country has kind of gotten oddly accustom to it,” he offered little hope of minimizing the impact on Biden’s reelection prospects. He even went so far as to say that focus groups who participated in discussed the indictments found that “they can’t really make a distinction between Jack Smith and Fani Willis and all these different cases.”
Finally showing her true intentions, Mitchell suggested that the televised nature of the courts in Georgia was a potential solution to her worries. But make no mistake, her concern is less with justice than with what impact Donald Trump’s alleged wrongdoing will have on elections. It’s obvious that for Mitchell, it’s not about what’s right or wrong, but rather who benefits politically.
Such partisanship and bias is incredibly damaging to a civil democracy such as ours, and the fact that it has become all too common among the liberal media should serve as a serious alarm bell for anyone who cares about true objectivity and fairness. The liberal media owes an apology to the American people for their relentless attempts to weaponize Donald Trump’s alleged wrongdoing for their own political gain.
